ROME – Cynthia J. Thompson departed her earthly soul on January 28, 2021, and joined her two sons and mother in Heaven. Cindy has arrived at her long-awaited destination and is now pain free and smiling gleefully.

Cindy was born on June 10, 1952 in Farmington, the only child of Irene Hood and Sam Hood. Cindy graduated from Cony High School in 1970 and married Kenneth L. Henderson on September 26, 1970, with whom she had 2 sons (Jefferey and Kenneth Jr.). Cindy later went on to marry Dale D. Thompson on July 2, 1994 and spent 15 happy years with Dale until his death in 2010.

Cindy was always so very proud of her family, her own strong work ethics, and her ability to be self-sufficient and independent. Cindy’s hobbies included BINGO (especially enjoying her trips to Foxwood), playing cards and board games with family and friends, and her Saturday night poker games with Bonnie, Wayne, Kenny, Terry and Tish. She loved those nights and was forever “up to something” to make people laugh.

Cindy is survived by granddaughter, Samantha Irene Rice; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hunter; stepdaughter, Holly Burgess; stepson, Richard McFadden II; a special brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Suzie Thompson; as well as several very close cousins whom she cherished (Debra, Terry, Bonnie and Wayne). Cindy will be greatly missed by a very special friend Leticia (Tish), with whom she spent her final weeks before gaining her angel wings. Besides her parents, Cindy was predeceased by her two sons, Jefferey S. Henderson and Kenneth L. Henderson, Jr.
Special thanks to the Beacon Hospice staff, especially Kami and Cheryl, for the great attention and compassion paid to Cindy during her final weeks.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Kling Cemetery in Augusta.
