Delmont C. “Delly” Hutchinson (1944-2008)

INDUSTRY – Delmont C. “Delly” Hutchinson died peacefully at his home in Industry on Tuesday, July 29, 2008.

He was born in Farmington, Sept. 14, 1944, one of three children of the late Carl W. and Barbara (Nichols) Hutchinson of Industry. He received his education in Allen’s Mills and Farmington High School, graduating in 1962. He was employed at the Wilton Tannery, Bass Shoe and later at International Paper Co., retiring due to ill health.

Through his years of ill health, he never lost his sense of humor. He enjoyed family functions and gatherings, unless there was a Nascar Race on TV. His favorite driver was #88, Dale Earnhart, Jr. He also enjoyed camping with family and friends, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling with his wife, Pat, and friends. He found comfort in the woods and cutting his winter’s supply. His greatest hobby was genealogy and going to cemeteries and gathering information. He was on a committee and very involved in gathering names for the Veteran’s Memorial that was erected at Clearwater Lake in Allen’s Mills.

Delly is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patricia L. Robbins of Industry; his mom, Barbara Hutchinson of Industry; two sons: Robert Hutchinson of Acton and James Hutchinson and his wife, Lisa of Horn Lake, Ms; and their mother, Diane Phelan of Jay; a brother, Dennis Hutchinson of Industry; a sister, Donice Whitney and her husband, Mark of Mercer; grandchildren: Kimberly, Dillan, Kelsea, Victoria and Quentin.

He was a wonderful father and grandfather to his stepchildren and step-grandchildren. He is survived by stepchildren: Terry White of China and his children: Terrence, Melissa and Crystal; Christopher White and his wife, Sally of Farmington and their children Tony and Kim; and Tony’s daughter, Page; Lisa Freese and her companion, Chris Pelkey of Lisbon Falls; Wanda Hamilton and her husband, Greg of Dixfield and Shawn White and his wife, Shelley of Skowhegan and their daughter, Katie; a special uncle who was like a brother, Raynie Nichols and his wife, Jeanne of Starks. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Kim Alison Hutchinson.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Delly’s Life at his sister and brother-in-law’s home, Donice and Mark Whitney, 171 W. Sandy River Rd., Mercer on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 2 at 1 PM. Come casually and bring your favorite Delly story. For directions, please call 431-3421.
