RANGELEY – Diane Elizabeth (Weathern) Trask, 74, of Rangeley, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008.
She was born May 6, 1934, in Wilton, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mildred Weathern.
She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952 and from the Farmington State Teachers’ College, now known as the University of Maine at Farmington in 1957.
She resided with her family in Haverhill, Mass. for many years. She also lived in Ipswich, Mass. and Windsor, Ontario, Canada before retiring to Rangeley in 1992. She was a member of the Rangeley Budget Committee for the past 12 years and was the financial secretary for the Rangeley Congregational Church. In her spare time, she volunteered for the Rangeley Region Health Appointment Transportation (RRHAT) service and the RLRS kindergarten. She was a faithful fan of RLRS athletic teams and attended as many games as possible.
She spent her time at home knitting prayer shawls, sewing, gardening and watching the Red Sox.
Besides her family, her biggest passion was quilting. She was an avid member of the Pieceful Pine Quilters and often donated her beautiful quilts to various charities and raffles.
Diane was a devoted wife to the late Blair D. Trask for 50 years. She is survived by their children: Brent H. Trask and his wife, Lori of Uniontown, OH.; Kelly E. Walton of Rangeley; Craig A. Trask and his wife, Wendy of Anderson SC.; and Scott B. Trask of Groveland, MA.; a sister, Benita Flynn and her husband, Robert of Auburn.; grandchildren: Kristen, Sharon, Nichole, Patricia, Brian, Scott B. , Jr., Shawna, Thomas, Rebecca and Mark; great-grandchildren: Everett, Alicia and Sean; nieces Elizabeth Flynn, Susan Dorris and Rebecca Woods and many more grand nieces and nephews and close friends.
Public memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept. 18 at 4 PM from the Rangeley Congregational Church. Graveside services will be private at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be given in her name to the Rangeley Congregational Church Building Fund or to the charity of ones’ choice.
