Doris (Mosher) Coombs (1920-2008)

TEMPLE — Doris (Mosher) Coombs died peacefully April 1, 2008, at an extended care facility in Centennial, Colorado. She moved to Colorado in 2004 to be close to her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

Doris was born March 26, 1920, in Temple, the daughter of Mark and Clara (Cony) Mosher. After the death of her mother at a young age, she was raised by Mark and her beloved step-mother, Marie (Carr) Mosher.
Doris attended Temple schools and graduated from Farmington High School.

In 1948, Doris married Roger W. Coombs and lived in Vassalboro until they returned to Temple. Doris was the bookkeeper for both her husband’s business, The Farmington Laundry and Dry Cleaners and her father’s company, The Co-Operative Land Company. Doris took an active part in organizations that her sons were involved in as they grew up. She volunteered as a Cub Scout leader, helped with school activities and attended every little league baseball game. In addition, Doris was an avid gardener, spending many happy hours tending to her flower beds.

Because of her kind nature, Doris spent many years caring for family members and close friends who were suffering from lingering illnesses. Doris is survived by her son, Alan Coombs, his wife Gail and daughter
Elizabeth; her brother Hollis Mosher and his wife, Natalie, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roger in 2005, her son Paul Coombs and brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Adrie Mosher.

Public memorial graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon July 10, at 3 PM at the Temple Village Cemetery.
