FARMINGTON – Eva. M. Jewell, 93, of Farmington, formerly of Wilton, died late Saturday evening at Edgewood Manor Rehabilitation Center in Farmington.

She was born in Weld, June 13, 1915, a daughter of Roland and Pansy Snowman and was also raised by her grandmother, Grammie Witham. She received her education in Weld schools.

Mrs. Jewell worked at Forster Manufacturing in Dryden for many years and later worked at GH Bass in Wilton before her retirement. She was a long-time member of Wilson Grange and she enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She was proud of her volunteer work with others and had been a recipient of a Presidential Citation from President Bush for all of her volunteer efforts. She will be remembered for baking great biscuits and she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Fred Jewell and his wife Thelma of Dryden, Roland Jewell and his wife Ruth of Old Town, Barbara Haynes of Orland, Steven Jewell of Farmington, Irving Jewell and his wife Claudette of Sabattus, and Roger Jewell of Lewiston; a special granddaughter, Brenda Fronk; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends; She was predeceased by a son, Charlie; 2 brothers, Garland Snowman and Erland Snowman; 2 sisters, Minnie Noyes and Lois Blodgett; and a grandson, Darren Jewell.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High Street, Wilton. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the center, Wednesday 10-12 and 4-6 p.m. The family suggests that those who desire make memorial contributions in Eva’s memory to either RSVP, PO Box 829, Waterville, ME 04903 or to the American Cancer Society, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
