Harold W. Drake (1936-2008)

FARMINGTON – Harold W. Drake, age 72, died in his home on August 27, 2008 with family by his side.

Born in Stoneham, Ma. to Florence Gellatly and Armond Soucy, he grew up in the Farmington
area, attending the Farmington Schools and went on to serve in the U. S. Navy.

After the Navy, he had early employment as a mechanic, working at Pratt and Whitney, The Oliver Stores and Davco. Most may remember him running the service stations Flying “A”

and Interstate 95.
Harold loved farming and his animals and was a farmer at heart. He started with the Archie Davis Farm ending with the Russell Black Farm. He was known for his kindness and for those who knew him well, his sense of humor.

To the following survivors he was the best husband, father and grandfather they could
have. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 54 yrs. Vanora Powers Drake, a daughter Dolores Drake Cote wife of Curtis Cote of Farmington, a son Douglas Drake of Winchendon, Ma., a daughter Audrey Drake Seaman wife of Steven Seaman of Meredith, N.H. and a son Nathan Drake and wife Tracy of Plainwell, Michigan. Also, 9 grandchildren, 8 surviving, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A small service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, August 30th at the Fairbanks School Meeting House, 508 Fairbanks Rd., Farmington Me. Cards or letters can be sent to 454 Morrison Hill Rd. Farmington.

    You are all in my thoughts at this time. “Uncle Harold” was a great man. I also had the pleasure of working with him for Cianbro at a shut down in Rumford. Before the job was completed, everyone was calling him Uncle Harold and boy did he ever have a grin on his face!!
