RANGELEY PLANTATION – Henry E. Thomas, Jr., 65, of Rangeley Plt., formerly of Hopkinton, Mass., died unexpectedly, Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at his home in Rangeley Plt.

He was born on Apr. 21, 1943 in Framingham, Mass., the son of Henry E. and Mary (Carey) Thomas, Sr. He graduated from Marion High School in Framingham, Mass., and went on to attend college in Merrimack, NH.
Henry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and while stationed in Honolulu, HA married, Linda Palmer on Nov. 19, 1966.

He worked as a land surveyor for Schofield Bros., Inc. in Framingham, Mass. for 35 years. He and his wife retired to Maine in 2002 where he enjoyed home renovation projects, snowmobiling and especially boating on Rangeley Lake. During the winter months, Henry and Linda traveled to Myrtle Beach, SC where he enjoyed time spent on the golf course.

He was a communicant of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Rangeley and was a member of M.A.L.C.E. in Massachusetts.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of Rangeley Plt.; a son, Henry Eric Thomas and his wife, Ellen M. of Hopkinton, Mass.; a daughter, Paige Dannielle Ashworth and her husband, Eran T. of Westbourough, Mass.; grandchildren, Angela, Henry Evan and Miranda Thomas and Kyle and Lauren Ashworth; two sisters, Beatrice Hewins of Hopkinton, Mass. and Beverly King of Framingham, Mass; mother-in-law, M. Elizabeth Palmer of Hopkinton, Mass; brother-in-law, Keith Eagling of MI; many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister Mary Frances “Mickey” Eagling.

Private family services. Spring interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley, ME. Gifts may be given in Henry’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
