JAY – Irene Dawn Neuman-Stannard-Harris-Bickford-McKechnie, 60, of East Jay Road, Jay, died peacefully early Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at her home.

She was born Oct. 10, 1947 in Amityville, NY, a daughter of Harry and Shirley Neuman. She received her education in local schools and had a BS in Early Childhood Education. Irene owned and operated The Health Spa in New Sharon and The Doll House in Wilton, incorporating her love of the water, dolls, and teddy bears into her businesses. She enjoyed traveling, outdoor activities, and was a patron of the arts.

She was a member of the AMVETS and the VFW and will be remembered as being full of adventure and charisma. Her family was her best and most beautiful treasured gift of her lifetime and she will be missed and remembered by the many hearts she touched during her lifetime. Thank you, Mom, we love you!

She is survived by her children, John and Chris Stannard, Jessie Rubner, and Jenna and Jeanne Harris; her fiancé, Harry Higgins; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and was a step-mother and surrogate mother to many others she cared for.

There will be no services. Cremation services are being provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Road, Jay. Condolences may be sent to the family at info@wilesrc.com
