Jeffrey Colfax Therrien (1948-2010)

STRONG – Jeffrey Colfax Therrien, 61, went to be with his Savior on May 30, 2010 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.

Mr. Therrien was born on Dec. 12, 1948 in Farmington, Maine, to Galan Edison and Pearl Carrie (Nichols) Therrien McCleary. He graduated from Strong High School in 1967 and attended Unity College and Eastern Nazarene College.

On June 20, 1970 he married his high school sweetheart, Nora Jean Wilson.

Mr. Therrien was a Farmington police officer, a Franklin County Deputy Sheriff for several years. He was a singer and guitarist of a local band, Fast Gym Shoes in the 1970s. After graduation from Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Mr. Therrien pastured churches in Claremont, New Hampshire; Gillette, Wyoming and Eliot, Maine. For six years he worked as a security guard at Campbell County Hospital and a special aides bus driver at Campbell County School District in Gillette, Wyoming.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved music and was an accomplished guitarist beginning his musical talents at age 5. Mr. Therrien was a member of the Strong Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nora Jean Therrien; two sons, Jeff Elwood Therrien and his wife Tamberly Therrien of Firestone, Colorado; Joshua Galan Therrien of West Freeman; a daughter, Julie Roseanne (Therrien) Roberts and her husband, Charles Roberts of Ogallala, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Destiny and Jeffrey Alexander “

Alex” Therrien of Firestone, Colorado and Brooke and Brady Roberts of Ogallala, Nebraska; his sister, Gaylene Rackliffe and her companion, Carl Coffin of Brewer, Maine; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Evelyn Corson of Jay, Maine; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Malcolm and Judy Hood of Crystal River, Florida; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Rosie Kingsley of Brockton, Massachusetts; very special friends, Clifford Haggan of Strong, Ed Campbell and Claudia Schneider of New York City, Larry and Marsha Satur of Gillette, Wyoming and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Jodi Rae Therrien; his parents, Galan Therrien and Pearl McCleary; his stepfather, Arthur McCleary; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elwood and Margaret Wilson; his brothers-in-law, Richard Rackliffe and Roger Hood.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Franklin Memorial Hospital and Central Maine Medical Center for the excellent care of our loved one.

    I am so very sorry for your loss. I enjoyed both of you and your families in church. I miss the beautiful music made so many years ago at the Nazarene Church but I am sure Jeff is singing and playing for all of us now! God be with you, Nora.
