Joanne Huff (1933-2009)

FARMINGTON – Joanne Huff, 76, formerly of Strong, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday July 23, 2009, surrounded by her friends and family at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center, Lower Main St., Farmington, where she had been a resident for several years.

She was born Jan. 12, 1933, in The Forks, the daughter of Linwood and Pauline (Pollard) Wallace. She was educated in the schools of Strong and was employed at Forsters. She later enjoyed many joyful years cleaning the condos at Sugarloaf.

Before her declining health, Joanne would sit at her sewing machine or kitchen table for countless hours working her magic on some new crafty project. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, cooking, board games and spending time with her family and dancing the night away at Smitty’s.

In August of 1953, she married Vernon Voter and had three daughters: Cheryl, Nancy and Polly. In 1962, she married Richard (Dick) Huff and had one daughter, Victoria.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and give their sincere gratitude to the residents and staff at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center. The family and friends that she made while residing there meant the world to her and to her family. They would also like to extend their thanks and appreciation to her former home health nurse aid and dear friend, Barbara Gardiner.

Joanne will be forever loved and missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by three daughters: Nancy Simmons and her husband, Michael of New Sharon, Polly Ross of Farmington and Victoria “Betty” White and her husband, Michael of Salem; seven grandchildren: Alan “Skip”, Jaimie, Seth, Tori, Eric, Ami and Trish and five great-granddaughters; Nicole, Madison, Payton, Victoria and Logan. She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Richard who died in 1996 and her courageous daughter, Cheryl Hinckley who died in 2003 and her brother, Robert Wallace.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., (Rtes. 2 & 27), Farmington on Monday evening from 6-8 PM. Public graveside services with her friend, Barbara Gardiner as celebrant, will be held Tuesday morning at 10 AM from the West Freeman Cemetery. Those who desire may give gifts in her memory to the Franklin Cty. Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, Maine 04938.
