John “Brad” Bradley Robbins (1943-2008)

CARTHAGE – John “Brad” Bradley Robbins, 65, of Carthage, died Thursday morning at his home.

He was born in Dixfield, Aug. 10, 1943, a son of Vernon and Lillian (Libby) Robbins and graduated from Dirigo High School in 1961. In 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Sally Jean Thereau of Rumford. They recently celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Mr. Robbins was a hard worker his entire life and retired from Verso Paper in January of 2007. He kept busy after retirement working part-time at Ellis’

Variety. He enjoyed meeting people and talking with them.

He was a 40-year member of King Hiram Lodge of Dixfield and enjoyed working in his yard, riding his four-wheeler, hunting, fishing, camping, and wood-working. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and his family meant everything to him.

He is survived by his wife of Carthage; a daughter, Lisa Lemieux and her husband Lance of Wilton, son, Robert Robbins and his wife, Kathy of Dixfield, daughter, Lori Houghton and her husband, Kip of Carthage; grandchildren, Patrick Lemieux and his wife Ashley, Jon Robbins and his wife Samantha, Jenna Lemieux, Kayla Robbins, Cody Houghton, and Mackenzie Houghton; great granddaughter, Hailee Robbins and a soon to be born great grandson, Hayden Robbins; a brother, Michael Robbins and his family of Palmyra. Brad also leaves behind his loyal companion, his dog, Sophie. He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld Street, Dixfield with Masonic services performed by King Hiram Masonic Lodge of Dixfield. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Rumford. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Oncology Department at Franklin Memorial Hospital, 111 Franklin Health Commons, Farmington, ME 04938.
