Kenneth G. Coffren (1930-2009)

FARMINGTON – Kenneth G. Coffren, 78 of Salem, died early Monday morning, Jan. 26, 2009 at Sandy River Center for Health Care in Farmington.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1930, in Phillips, Maine, a son of John and Nancy (Doyen) Coffren. Kenneth entered the armed services at the age of 19 and proudly served his country in the Korean War for four years. He worked in lumbering, and wood mills until his retirement, and loved hunting, and fishing in the great outdoors.

In later years, Kenneth became a voracious reader, developed an outstanding sweet tooth, and enjoyed keeping up on current events from around the world. His wonderful sense of humor, and fond reminiscences of the old days delighted his family and friends, who will miss him dearly.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter Betty J. Ross and her husband Kim W. Ross of Phoenix, Arizona; three sons Robert K. Coffren of Wilton, Peter D. Coffren and his wife Rhonda of Salem, Jeffrey E. Coffren of Salem, a brother Raymond Coffren and his wife Arbeth of Salem. Grandchildren David Coffren and Philip Coffren of Salem; great grandchildren Dominic, and Elijah of Salem; nieces and nephews include April Grant, Raymond Coffren Jr., and Gary and Lester Coffren Jr. “Peanut.”

He was predeceased by his parents John and Nancy Coffren, one sister, Arlene Coffren, and three brothers Harold Coffren and his wife Ethel, Lester Coffren and his wife Marion, and Freddie Coffren.

Visitation will held from 6 p.m. To 8 p.m. On Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at the Salem Church, in Salem. A Graveside service will be held at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
