Such a nice lady, and I enjoyed leaving her vegetables from the community garden near the library. 16. As a young couple starting life in New Sharon, Peggy and Ged greeted us with friendship and support. They were two of many folks in New Sharon who welcomed us. Wonderful people who have left a lasting impression after all these years.

  17. Peggy and Ged were some of the first people I met when I came to New Sharon all those years ago. Just plain GOOD people. Usually the local corner store is the hub of information and the one thing I found is that Peggy NEVER, EVER spread gossip. She never had a bad word about anyone to anyone. She was quick to laugh, and so willing to help.
Most towns had a corner store. This was one of the best!

  18. so sorry to hear this, I haven’t seen her in years but what a fun and lively lady. she was always fun to visit in the general store in New Sharon, and we had a Great many summer days upta camp!!

  19. Auntie Peg,

You were always such a wonderful Aunt to me.
My Dad would tell great stories from his youth, about his “Big Sister” The grace and poise that you carried yourself with was a beautiful reminder to all that quiet strength and humility can be very beautiful…and that you truly were. I pray that you enjoy the embrace of your brother, Jack…my father now that you are reunited in eternity. May God hold the family here that remains, until the day we are all caught up in glory with you. Your Loving Nephew, Dan “Danny” Hatcher

  20. Since I can remember, Peggy has always been a kind friend to all. Dave and Gerry, you must be so proud to have her as your mother. It was always pleasant entering their small-town store. Both she and your dad were pillars of our small community. We will miss her smiling, kind face.

  21. Ilene and I to New Sharon , as new comers, relied on Grants Market with Peggy and Ged for much that we did in New Sharon. They were a big help to us fifty years ago when we, as newcomers, had to get set up in our new town. We remember them warmly.

  22. What a wonderful influence Peggie was: kind, friendly, generous, gracious, energetic, funny, traveler, reader, gardener. It was because of her and Ged that we felt so at home in New Sharon from the start. She had a knack for making each person feel special, and her example and friendship will always be remembered.

  23. Peggy was a wonderful friend to my mother, Jeanne Sawyer, and I’m so glad to have shared in that friendship. I see Peggy looking up from her flowers or walking up and down Industry Road. I hear her laughing along with Jeannie and telling stories about her childhood and her adventures. In my heart they are having a nice chat, catching up.
