FARMINGTON – Milford James Williamson, 85, of Chesterville, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington.

He was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Chesterville, the son of James and Lila (Flagg) Williamson. He
received his education in Chesterville elementary schools and was a graduate of Monmouth Academy.
He was married to Eldora Bachelder who predeceased him. He was employed at Bath Iron Works, agricultural farms in Florida that raised watermelon and oranges, and at Yahna industries in Florida, a sand plant, where he operated a pay loader. He enjoyed working on his tree farm in Maine and for a number of years, he worked for Wallace French and plowed roads in Chesterville.

He was a hardworking outdoorsman who enjoyed woodworking and tending to his raspberries and cultivated blueberries.

He is survived by one son: Joel Williamson and his wife, Jovita of LaBelle, Florida; two daughters: Marsha Cross and her husband, Crawford Cross of Ludawici, Georgia and Pamela Elder and her husband, Danny Elder of Chesterville; two step-sisters: Nellie Pinkham of Sandy River Nursing Care Center, Farmington and Mabelle Libby and her husband, Harvey of Zellwood, Florida; grandchildren: Kristel Williamson, Matthew Williamson, Mallory Williamson, Aaron Smothers, Lacey Elder, Daniel Elder, Kenneth Cross and Kimberly Smith; great grandchildren: Jonathan Smothers, Joshua Smothers, Trinity Elder, Samantha Cross, Alexandria Cross and Alyssa Smith.

He was predeceased by his parents; a step-father, Victor Bachelder, his wife, a sister Gladys Bamford, a half-sister Ila Bachelder Glidden Clark and a step-sister Stella Bachelder Huff.

Public memorial graveside services will be held in the summer of 2009 at the Stratton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance may be sent to The Bachelder Scholarship Fund c/o Linda Lowell Stratton, Maine 04982 or to Monmouth Academy Att.: Scholarship Fund Monmouth, Me. 04259.
