Orland H. Decker (1926 – 2009)

FARMINGTON – Orland H. Decker, 82, of Farmington, died Late Thursday evening, Jan. 22, 2009, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

He was born July 22, 1926, in Chesterville, the son of Arthur and Bessie (Collins) Decker. He received his education in local schools and on Dec. 8, 1951, married Georgieanna Savage.

He retired, after 25 years of service from the Town of Farmington Highway Department. He enjoyed fishing, reading, watching television and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Georgeianna Decker of Farmington; two sons: Maurice “Skip” Decker and his wife, Wanda of Farmington and Barry Decker of Revere, MA.; two daughters: Jerri Ellen Decker and her companion Kenneth “Kenny” Stanley, Jr., of Farmington and Lani Stanley and her husband, James of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

At Orland’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance may be given to the Franklin Cty. Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, Me. 04938. Service arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., (Rtes. 2 & 27) Farmington, Maine (778-5911).

    My heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow. Orland was a wonderful person with a super sense if humor that will be missed by so many. I feel so blessed to have got to know him.
