JAY – Peter C. Benoit, 55, of Jay died on Sunday, July 12, 2009 as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
He was born July 15, 1953 in Brockton, Mass., the son of Charles J. and Mavis (Fox) Benoit. On August 2, 2004 he married Barbara LeMoine. After military service in the U.S. Air Force Peter worked as a chef in different Cape Cod, Mass. restaurants and for several here in Maine including LaFleur’s Restaurant in Jay for 13 years.
On Jan. 12, 2009, he and his wife fulfilled his long-time dream of opening his own restaurant, Peter’s Seafood & Steaks Restaurant in Farmington. Peter recently joined the Farmington Elks Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and loved working with his wife at the restaurant and socializing with his customers.
Peter is survived by his wife and his mother; two daughters Amanda Benoit and Tabitha Hill; two sons Peter and Christopher Benoit; a stepdaughter Jacqueline Brewer; three stepsons Christopher Small, Jeremy and Jason Jarvis; seven grandchildren; his sister Janet Reardon of Cape Cod, MA; a niece; and two nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, from 5-8 p.m. at Adams~McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington. A private family service will be held at the Bourne National Cemetery in Cape Cod at a later date.
