FARMINGTON – Ronald Marquis Neil, 92, of Strong died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
He was born April 18, 1916 in Weld, Maine, the son of Marquis Ransted and Nellie J. (Vining) Neil. He was educated in the schools of Wilton and Strong graduating in 1937. Ronald worked at Forster Manufacturing until he retired in 1979. He was a member of the Mt. Blue Lodge #67 A.F. & A.M. (former member of Davis Lodge), and the Strong United Methodist Church. He made his home in Strong since 1929. Ronald enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, and lived for his little dog Sassie.
Ronald is survived by his daughter Judith Penney and her husband Clyde of New Vineyard, his son Paul Neil and his wife Linda of Strong, seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a sister Doris Brackley, a brother Clifford Neil, three stepdaughters Dorothy Lambert, Beverly Walker, and Linda Purdue, and two stepsons Lewis Damon and C. Arthur Allen. He was predeceased by his wives Mary Stevens and Edith Gifford, a great great grandson, and his brother Richard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from noon – 1 pm at Adams~McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington. A memorial service will follow at 1 pm, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Gary Hubley officiating. A graveside burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Farmington.
