Ronald Sherwood Eldridge (1943-2008)

NEW SHARON – Ronald Sherwood Eldridge, 65, of New Sharon, died unexpectedly on Saturday Sept. 27, 2008 at his home in New Sharon, of natural causes.

He was born April 30, 1943, in Hyannis, Mass., the son of Frederick A. and Mildred (Umstead) Eldridge. He graduated from Dennis/Yarmouth High School on the Cape and on Sept. 8, 1962, married Barbara Makuch.

In 1988, they moved to Maine. He was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed refinishing furniture and doing finish carpentry work. He and his wife showed horses for many years and he will be remembered for “driving Miss Daisy.”

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara of New Sharon; two sons: Mark Eldridge of Farmington and Richard Eldridge of New Sharon; three daughters: Christina Eldridge and her companion, Gary Souza of Harwich, MA.; Kim Almonte and her husband, David of Marston’s Mills, Ma., and Kelly
Eldridge and her companion, Glenn Pinkham of Chesterville, Maine; one sister: Carleen Eldridge of West Chester, PA.; 11 grandchildren: Tyler Almonte, Jamal Tucker, Jordan Tucker, Devin Eldridge, Michael Almonte, Dylan Eldridge, Darren Pinkham, Jessica Eldridge, Samantha Eldridge, Mikaela Nida-Eldridge and Denelle Eldridge.
