Valerie Ann White

It is with both a heavy heart and a warm smile that we celebrate the life of Valerie Ann White, who passed away on May 18, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Born on January 24, 1950, in Skowhegan, ME, Valerie lived a life full of generosity, compassion, thoughtfulness, and support. Her light will continue to shine through the countless lives she touched, as well as the memories of those who knew her as Mama Val, the loving den mother of the neighborhood.

Valerie was a woman of many talents and passions, from her incredible upholstery skills, which she turned into a thriving 46-year business and retiring at the age of 67. She loved her puzzles, Yahtzee, cards, sunsets on the beach, cribbage, and gardening. She also had an affinity for the oldies, which often served as the soundtrack for the many gatherings at her home. Graduating from Mt. Blue High School in 1968, Valerie’s life took her from Skowhegan, Maine, to Dryden, Maine, Bonita Springs, Florida, and finally to Farmington Falls, Maine. Her heart always held a special place for her furry friends, and she was a proud supporter of the Franklin County Animal Shelter. Valerie was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge.

Valerie is survived by her daughter; Michelle Perkins, son; Todd Perkins and wife Maureen, grandsons; Tyler and wife Mariah, Tanner Sergio, great-grandchildren; Oaken and Graham Sergio, and her nieces and nephews Ken, Jerry, and Pam Rowe. She was preceded in death by her father Glendon Rowe, mother Ruth Corson, husband Terry White, brother Brian Rowe, and brother Keith Corson.

In honor of Valerie’s memory, we invite you to share your favorite stories, memories, and photos on her memorial page. Her legacy of love, laughter, and all things lighthearted will live on through each and every one of us. Donations may be made to The Franklin County Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Road, Farmington, Maine 04938.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 1 to 4 pm, at the Farmington Elks Lodge, 120 School Street, in West Farmington.

  1. I was so blessed to be loved by you, my bonus Mom. We hit it off right from the start, so many laughs cooking together, and playing endless games of Yahtzee, and us teasing Todd on your stays with us over the last two years. We love you always Mom. Thank you for raising such a wonderful son, he has a lot of you in him for sure! You are in our hearts forever <3.

  2. Todd and Shelly, so sorry for your loss. Many good memories on Chandler Street in Dryden. Great neighbors.

  3. So saddened to learn if her passing. She was a neighbor I grew up playing with when I lived on Quebec Street she on Lincoln Street we were next door neighbors . Many hours we spent playing together as kids,
Friends for many years. Just saw her in January. Always so much fun. I am truly sorry to your whole family for your loss. Ann Wattles

  4. Sorry to hear of Val’s passing. We were classmates and actually graduated from Farmington High School class of ’68. The “Greyhounds” of a vanishing past. Rest in Peace girl. Say hi to Bri for me.

  5. Val and I were neighbors in Bonita Springs; her rescue Yorkie, Chancy, was in love with my Yorkie, Paul, and the feeling was mutual. After they moved to Maine, Paul would still stop in front of their house and wait, ears perked up, for Val and Chancy to come on out. Val and I and our dogs actually rode out Hurricane Irma back in ’17 in the security of my office in North Naples. We were afraid our houses would blow away or flood!

They broke the mold, Val. Rest in peace.
