Maine Mountain Chamber Concert – Music from Colby
Nordica Auditorium, Merrill Hall, UMF 224 Main Street, Farmington, ME, United StatesA special concert by Eleven Colby College Music Department members including Lily Funahashi on piano. The concert has been prepared for a September 30th opening of the new Gordon Center for the Creative and Performing Arts. It will be repeated here in Farmington on Sunday, October 1st. They will be playing the Sextet in C Major by Erno Dohnanyi, a new work by Colby composer, Jose Martinez, and one other piece.

It is a special concert that we have called: “Music from Colby”. It will be a repeat presentation of their concert given the night before at Colby in celebration of the opening of Colby’s new arts center, the Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts. The concert in Farmington will be on Sunday, Oct. 1st at 3:00 pm in Nordica Auditorium, Merrill Hall, at 224 Main Street. For this special concert, MMCM founders Yuri Funahashi (piano) and Laurie Kennedy (viola) will be joined by eight outstanding musicians

Emery Community Arts Center at the University of Maine at FarmingtonLynn Vartan, from the west coast, has mesmerized the audience in the past here with her flawless playing on a beautiful wooden marimba. Her focus now is on playing a vibraphone, and she will be playing both solo and in duet with Bridget Convey on piano.

Advent is a time of reflection and anticipation, and their repertoire will reflect the season with pastoral and sacred music from France, Germany, The Netherlands, and Italy. Sunday, Dec. 10, at 5:00 PM at Nordica Auditorium. Snow date is Friday, Dec. 15, at 7:00 PM. Suggested ticket price is $20, less if you can’t, more if you can, all welcome, no one turned away.
