Pop-UP Sales at the Farmington Public Library
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MESaturdays in May 10:30-1:30, artisans will be selling their wares, and the library will be selling plants. All proceeds from the plants benefit the library and a portion of the arts and crafts sold will benefit the library. These events will be May 7, 14, and 21.
Rilke’s Sonnets to Orpheus: A Centenary Celebration
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MEExactly a century ago, Rainer Maria Rilke created the fifty-five Sonnets to Orpheus within one month in what he called a "hurricane" of creativity. Farmington author, translator, Teacher, and community activist John Rosenwald will present and discuss his translations of Rilke's sonnets, recently published by covered bridge press.
Farmington Public Library Book Sale
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, METhe Farmington Public Library will be holding two summer book sales, one July 15th from 1pm-6pm and the other on August 12th from 12pm-5pm. We will have library book bags available for sale as well. Come to the library and find some fun books to read this summer!
Climate Policy Workshop With Peter Dugas
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MEPlease join us at the Farmington Public Library on Tuesday, September 13th, at 5pm for a Climate Policy Workshop presented by Peter Dugas. According to Dugas, "This engaging interactive workshop will use MIT's EN-ROADS Climate Simulator to explore the climate provisions of the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act, explore next steps in creating effective and equitable solutions, and discuss what we in Maine can do to ensure a safe and livable future." Meditation Workshop
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MEAll levels welcome to join in an introductory exploration of different practices meant to augment focus, awareness, and introspection. This introduction to meditation will involve both implementation and reflective discussion of various contemplative techniques, including breath meditation, body scan, somatic orientation, energy center meditation, and walking meditation. This event is free and open to the public at the Farmington Public Library.

Anne B. Gass Author Event
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MEJoin us at the Farmington Public Library to hear Maine author and historian Anne B. Gass discuss her latest historical novel, We Demand: The Suffrage Road Trip. This book is based on the true story of four women who go on a cross country road trip from San Francisco to Washington D.C. to fight for an amendment to the Constitution that would give women the right to vote.
Sarah Carlson Book Launch & Poetry Reading
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MEJoin us at the Farmington Public Library and listen to local author Sarah Carlson discuss and read from her new book, Tender Light Softens, as well as one of her earlier volumes In the Currents of Quiet. Carlson will talk about how movement in the outdoor world and writing became part of her process for healing - paving the way from despair to hope and awareness of the present moment, whatever it contains. The presentation will include stories of how this feeling has permeated her life as a teacher, mother, and all around human. Select pieces will be read alongside a slideshow
FPL Annual Plant Sale
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, METhe Farmington Public Library Annual Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 6th, from 10-12. Come support the library and take home a few plants! Donations of plants and seedlings of all kinds are greatly appreciated, they can be dropped off at the library the week before starting on May 2nd. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Author Talk: Karla Jordan
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MECome join us at the Farmington Public Library to hear local Maine author Karla Jordan discuss her newest book, The Road to Marietta. Jordan writes general and historical fiction, and The Road to Marietta focused on a young girl in 1930 who is the daughter of a moonshine runner. This event is free and open to the public!
Standing Together: Celebrating 20 Years of the Farmington Peace Vigil
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MECome to the Farmington Public Library on Saturday, May 13 at 12:30pm for a celebration of twenty years of the Farmington, Maine Peace Vigil with memories, reflections, and artifacts. All are welcome, and free copies of Standing Together will be available.
Emily’s Planting & Blooming Day
Farmington Public Library 117 Academy Street, Farmington, MEJoin us at the Farmington Public Library for a fun Planting & Blooming activity for children of all ages! Paint a plant pot, plant some seeds, and listen to a story. This is a free event with all materials provided, just make sure to wear clothes that can get messy!
