On October 19, the Mt. Blue Area Garden Club Meeting will welcome Gretchen Legler, Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Maine, Farmington where  she will share her experience and knowledge on "Flower and Herbal Companions to Vegetables". Members and guests will learn about the flowers and herbs that can be planted with your vegetables to make them happy! The meeting will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington with a social time at 5:30pm, followed by a business meeting and speaker at 6:00pm. The Mt, Blue Area Garden Club will close the 2021 year with a meeting at 12:30 on November 16,  at Trinity United Methodist Church on Farmington Falls Road Farmington. A social half hour will precede the 1:00 business meeting. This will be followed with a discussion on a Better Understand of the Levels of the Garden Club Federation of Maine, the state level of the garden Clubs in Maine. Blue area Garden Club is pleased to welcome Gary Fish, the Maine State Horticulturist to speak at our 12:30 pm, April 19 meeting held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls, Farmington. He will present "Beetles, Bittersweet, and Buckthorn, OH MY!", focusing on invasive pests in our gardens and forests. A social half hour, prior to the program with light refreshments will be hosted by Tom Saviello, Peg Lang and Amy Palmer. The speaker will begin after a brief business meeting at 1:00.  All are welcome to attend. Current CDC COVID protocol will be followed. Gary grew up

Mt Blue Area Garden Club is pleased to share the gardens of Becky Grant-Widen at 847 Orchard Drive, Wilton on July 19 at 5:30. Bring your own chair, a sandwich and a plant to swap. Creative desserts are provided by club hostesses. Becky will do a tour of her vegetable and flower gardens, where she uses the “no-dig” method of gardening, as well as her efforts to address invasive and aggressive plants using goats and pigs, particularly multiflora rose and Asiatic bittersweet.
