FARMINGTON – Come join the folks of the Upper Kennebec Valley Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine for an informative workshop exploring the ways you can make tasty wine and beer with ingredients from the woodlot.

John Cormier, a long time beer and wine maker of Kennebec Home Brew Supplies in Farmington will lead you through the process of making wine and beer from birch and maple trees for a start (you might even get a sample or two).

Kathy Hopkins from UMaine Extension, a leader in the field of tapping maples will be on hand to talk about how to tap trees correctly, and Dave Fuller also of Umaine Extension will be talking about other products from the woodlot. There will also be an evaporator running.

The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 21 at the Kennebec Home Brew store on Route 2 in Farmington. If you are coming from Wilton/Jay way, it is ¼ mile from Route 4, on Route 2, on the right, just after the graveyard. If you are coming from New Sharon way, as you come into Farmington, once you see the graveyard on the right on Route 2, look for the store on the left. This workshop is free and open to all. You don’t need to be a member to attend. See you there! Any questions, call Patty Cormier at 474-3499 or patty.cormier@maine.gov.
