WEST FARMINGTON – The Farmington Ski Club was formed in 1939 by a small group of enthusiastic Farmington residents skiing on nearby Voter Hill. In 1948, 135 acres of the Knapp Farm were purchased by the club and the area was dedicated as the John Abbott Titcomb Memorial Ski Slope. The club and slope has grown over the years with improvements in the trails system, snowmaking, lodge expansions, lift and grooming equipment. The club continues to offer affordable recreation through the efforts of many club and community volunteers.

On Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9 am to 4 pm and Monday, Oct. 19 from 2 pm to 6 pm, an open house will be held with tours of the facilities and staff and family members will be attending. Information will be available on club membership, season passes, and children’s programs.

Also, on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 8 am to 4 pm, a volunteer work party day will be held. This is an opportunity for members, and any one in the community that has enjoyed the facilities at Titcomb Mountain, to help get ready for the winter season. Tasks will include painting, trail maintenance and firewood preparation. The rain date for this event is Sunday, Oct. 18 from 8 am to 4 pm.

Due to the efforts of past and current club members and community sponsors, Titcomb Mountain offers
affordable and family friendly winter recreation, 17 trails for downhill skiing and snowboarding for beginners to advance, two T-Bars and one handle tow on alpine slopes, snowmaking on 75 percent of alpine terrain,  16 km of Nordic trails groomed for both classic and skate skiing, terrain park for riders and skiers, and learn to ski and snowboard programs after school and on the weekends.
