CASTLETON, VT – The Castleton State College men’s basketball team held a 62-55 lead with 62-55 lead with 6:58 remaining, but Josh Tanguay fueled a late Farmington surge to propel the Beavers to a 69-68 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win at Glenbrook Gymnasium Saturday evening.

Tanguay scored eight consecutive points, all in the paint, and four coming off offensive rebounds to give the Beavers a 63-62 lead with 5:56 remaining. After a Castleton timeout, Keith Schneider scored to make it 64-63 Castleton, but successive lay-ups from DJ Gerrish pushed the Farmington lead to 67-64 with four minutes remaining. Castleton was able to grab the lead at 68-67 after a pair of hoops, but Eric Lelansky answered with the game winner with just less than two minutes left in regulation.

Castleton jumped out to a 37-33 halftime lead thanks in large part to a 14-for-31 performance from the field which included 6-of-10 from beyond the three-point stripe. Farmington limited Castleton to just 35% in the second half, while making 15-of-30 attempts to earn the win.

Tanguay finished with a game-high 21 points and 15 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards. Lelansky added 12 points, six assists and seven rebounds as Farmington improves to 8-9 overall and 6-2 in conference play. Ted Neil chipped in 11 points, while Eric Taylor added nine points and 13 rebounds.

Seth Harrington scored a team-high 16 points to pace 2-16 (1-6 NAC) Castleton. Kevin Cayea added 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds, while Cameron Bodine and Marcus Hass chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively.

Both teams return to action Tuesday at 5:30 pm, as Farmington plays host to Husson and Castleton travels to Johnson State.
