Men’s soccer notches win over MMA

FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s soccer team evened its record at 2-2 with a 3-1 win over Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference action today.

The Beavers are scheduled to host St. Joseph’s College on Tuesday. The Mariners slipped to 2-4 and are scheduled to host the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Wednesday.

Ryan Pelletier (Orrington, ME) paced the Beavers with a goal and two assists with Dylan Moreau (Phippsburg, ME) and James Tollefson (Middletown, RI) each netting their first collegiate goals.

Farmington bolted into the contest with a pair of goals in the opening 10 minutes. Moreau punched in a pretty cross by Pelletier at 7:46 and Pelletier knocked in a Sean Raph (Waterville, ME) feed into an open net at 10:04 for the 2-0 lead.

Tollefson scored at 26:36 to push the advantage to 3-0, but MMA responded 10 seconds later with an Isaiah Roberts (Machias, ME) goal to cut the lead to 3-1.

Matthew Dennett (Augusta, ME) made the lead stick for the Beavers as the Farmington netminder made six saves for the victory.

Randy Bartlett (Lincoln, NH) recorded six saves for the Mariners, who were outshot 15-8.
