Tanguay earns share of NAC award

FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington junior center Josh Tanguay (Gorham, ME) was recognized as the North Atlantic Conference Co-Men’s Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference today.

Tanguay shared the award with Thomas College freshman forward Shawn Rodgers.

Tanguay helped the Beavers to a pair of NAC wins in a 2-1 week with double-doubles in both contests. The junior scored 21 points with 13 rebounds in a win at Green Mountain and 21 points and 15 boards (11 offensive) in a victory at Castleton. For the week, Tanguay averaged 18.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per game with five blocks. He made 25 of 34 (.735) shots from the field.

This is the second time Tanguay has been recognized as the NAC Player of the Week. He was honored as the NAC Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 15.

The Beavers (8-9) are scheduled to play a key conference clash against NAC foe Husson University on Tuesday. The men’s game is tabbed for a 5:30 p.m. start with the women’s contest to follow.
