WATERVILLE – In a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match up, the University of Maine at Farmington Lady Beavers were able to claim their second victory over the Thomas College Lady Terriers by a final score of 82-70 on Sunday afternoon at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.

Despite the Lady Terriers jumping out to a 12-5 early lead, the Lady Beavers would claim their first lead with 7:03 remaining in the first half, and would never give it up again. Thomas would make multiple runs at Farmington, but with the Lady Beavers shooting 34-40 from the free throw line in the game, baskets wouldn’t add up fast enough for the Lady Terriers.

Thomas was led by Mallorie Blakney (SO, Fairfield, ME) who tallied 17 points while also contributing seven rebounds on the afternoon. Kellie Martel (SO,Cambridge, ME) would also add double digits for the Terriers with 15 points on three-for-eight shooting from behind the arc. Amy Miles (SR, Waldo, ME) would also grab seven rebounds for the Terriers to lead the way along with Blakney.

Farmington’s Caitlyn Laflin (JR, Farmingdale, ME) proved to be a force underneath for the Lady Beavers, claiming a game high 31 points and 14 rebounds. Laflin’s points came from shooting 9-17 from the floor, to go along with a perfect 12-12 at the charity stripe. Jillian Ross (SO, Belfast, ME) would claim the second double-double for the Lady Beavers, adding 13 points and pulling down 12 rebounds on the afternoon. Amanda Byrne (SR, Winslow, ME ) would be the third Farmington player to tally a double-digit point total scoring 12 points.

Farmington’s next contest comes on Tuesday as well, when they will travel to face Husson University.
