FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington women’s basketball team used a late flurry to get past Green Mountain College 58-54 in North Atlantic Conference action today at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Beavers (12-10 overall, 10-2 in the NAC) are scheduled to host Colby College Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Eagles (10-12, 4-8) are scheduled to host Maine Maritime Academy Friday.

Erin Porter (Bangor, ME) led all scorers with 20 points for the Beavers, while Ashley Busque (Belgrade, ME) provided 17 points and Caitlyn Laflin (Farmingdale, ME) tallied 15 points and yanked down 11 boards.

Porter scored 11 of team’s 12 points out of halftime to allow Farmington to put together a 10-point cushion with 14:41 remaining in the game, but the Eagles fought back with a 15-3 run to take a 47-45 lead with 3:29 to play. With the Beavers holding a 50-49 edge, Busque collected a three-point play and buried a jumper on the next possession to give the hosts a 55-49 lead with 1:16 left. Trailing 27-17, the Eagles scored the game’s next seven points to knock their deficit to 27-24 with 1:57 until the break, but a pair of Busque free throws was the only offense in the waning moments of the first half as Farmington led 29-24 at intermission.
