UMF’s post season schedule; Mitchell named

FARMINGTON – The North Atlantic Conference announced championship seedings in men’s soccer, women’s soccer, field hockey and women’s volleyball with the University of Maine at Farmington set to host postseason action in all four sports.

The Beavers men’s soccer team is scheduled to host Thomas in a NAC quarterfinal match on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the women’s soccer squad set to host Lyndon State in quarterfinal play Wednesday at 1 p.m. The field hockey team received a bye to the semifinals where they are scheduled to host the winner of St. Joseph’s/Thomas on Saturday at 2 p.m., while the women’s volleyball team is slated to host Thomas in quarterfinal play Saturday at 11 a.m.

Mitchell honored with weekly rookie award

FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington freshman right-side hitter Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) was named the North Atlantic Conference Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference today.

Mitchell collected 11 kills with one error in 22 attacks (.455 hitting percentage) in a 3-0 NAC win over Lyndon State – the Beavers’ only game last week. Mitchell also had four digs, a solo block and a block assist.

This is the third time this season that Mitchell has received the honor.
