Women’s soccer blanked by Husson

FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington women’s soccer team ended its regular season with a 2-0 loss to Husson University in North Atlantic Conference action today at Prescott Field.

The Beavers finished at 7-7 overall and 5-2 in the NAC, while Husson (13-4) completed the regular season unbeaten in the NAC at 6-0. Both teams await the NAC Tournament pairings to find out where and when they will be playing.

After a scoreless opening half with both teams with even opportunities, the Eagles carried an 18-2 command in shots in the second half with Shelby Bradford (Lee, ME) scoring on a free kick three minutes after intermission and Samantha Homer (Charlton, MA) burying a shot off a midfield push by Megan LaJoie (Van Buren, ME) 12 minutes later for the final score.

Mckell Barnes (Durham, ME) worked the first 78 minutes in goal for the Beavers with five saves before giving way to Crystal Johnson (Skowhegan, ME) after an injury. Johnson finished with a pair of saves.

Tatyana Wolterbeek (Wells, ME) stopped two shots in the victory.
