Women’s volleyball downed by Bates

FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington women’s volleyball team lost to Bates College 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-15) tonight at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Beavers fell to 1-5 and are off until next Wednesday when they are scheduled to play host to St. Joseph’s. The Bobcats improved to 3-4 and are slated to host Tufts University on Friday.

Jenna Rowan (Kittery, ME) and Caitlin Flaherty (Pembroke, MA) each made 13 digs in the loss with Rowan adding three service aces. Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) and Emily Beebe (Bristol, RI) each had three kills.

Liz Leberman (Concord, NH) and Olivia Schow (Costa Mesa, CA) each collected six kills for Bates with Avery Masters (Mill Valley, CA) supplying five kills and three blocks, Chrissy Gee (San Francisco, CA) adding five kills and three service aces and Beth Billington (St. Paul, MN) blocking four attacks. Grace Haessler (Portland, OR) doled out 23 assists in the win.
