Vernon to discuss changes affecting 2022 tax returns. He will highlight changes in Maine tax law regarding the Property Tax Fairness Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit, increases in Pension Income Deduction and revisions to the Education Opportunity Tax Credit. The information he presents will help you through this tax season.
The Underground Railroad, a book talk by Dale Potter-Clark

Vernon, ME, United StatesThe Dr. Shaw Memorial Library and Vienna Historical Society are co-sponsoring an author talk with local historian Dale Potter-Clark on Wednesday, November 16 at 6PM at the library, 344 Pond Rd., Mt. Vernon. Potter-Clark will discuss her new historical novel about the Underground Railroad, Escape from Bunker Hill, the story of a Maine couple who move to Florida to help slaves escape north. The book also follows 4 escapees as they head North and make their way through Maine.
Week-long Book Sale

Vernon will be hosting a week-long booksale during our usual open hours throughout the week of July 11, here at the library, in the Clayton Dolloff room in the second floor of the older part of the building. Please come browse & buy during the hours of: Monday (July 11) from 3-6pm, Wednesday (July 13) from 9AM-Noon and 3-7PM, and Saturday (July 16) from 10AM-3PM. Donations will be $1.00/bag of books – quite a deal! Come in and stock up on reading material! We’ll be happy to see you!
