Senecal named to Maine EMS board

FARMINGTON – Michael Senecal, WEMT-P, NorthStar regional operations manager for Farmington and Carrabassett Valley bases, has been appointed by Gov. Paul LePage to serve on the board of directors for Maine Emergency Medical Services. Maine EMS is part of the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Senecal will be the not-for-profit ambulance representative on the Maine EMS board and is scheduled to attend his first meeting May 4 in Augusta. The board meets six times per year and is responsible for disseminating the EMS rules and monitoring the EMS system. The 17-member board is appointed by the governor and each representative serves three-year terms.

Senecal has worked in the field of emergency medical services for 19 years. Besides his managerial role at NorthStar, Senecal is a paramedic and licensed instructor coordinator who provides emergency patient care and also teaches EMS personnel in wilderness medicine, CPR, advanced life support, and classes leading to EMS licensure.

Senecal resides in Industry with his wife Billye and their two daughters. They are also the parents of three adult children. He serves as selectman, health officer, and fire department captain for the town of Industry.
