Wilton Selectman?
Looks like Farmington was the only town overwhelmingly supportive of the new dispatch center and many of the smaller townships voted it down by wide margins for the amount of voters
Congratulations Scott Nichols on the clean sweep!
@ Chris Farmer I believe sir you should look more closely at what the margins actually are rather than what you would like them to appear to be. 7-11 towns posted so far are in support of this bond and 9 of the 11 towns posted so far the votes are within 10 or less one way or the other half of those even within 5. Wide margin indeed
I’m glad the voters did not support the new center and it looks as if the Democrat will retain control as Sheriff come November. GOOD! Republicans are all against spending tax payer money, except when they want to spend tax payer money.
Looks like those needing the Dispatch most, voted it down !
Mr. Hazsko: Did you vote for Scott Nichols? If you did, then you must have had to change your political affiliation, because everyone knows you’re a Democrat.
@ Mr. Citizen- Why spin this negative was that really necessary?
BTW-If you wish to personal attack why don’t you post your name it gives it more weight with the reader.
Your comment “The way I would like them to appear? Pretty big assumption there! The Sorry there is no hidden agenda here, I just was making an observation at the time.
Percentage of margin is what I was referencing which 2 plantations voted the bond down 2 to 1. I consider a margin of more that 10% a wide margin. Maybe you consider a larger number, purely one’s opinion. The fact that it is 5 or 10 vote difference in a town/plantation that only casts 15-20 votes is what many in those areas would consider a large margin.
For the smaller plantations $600,000 is more than their entire budget which may be why many voted it down.
Farmington controls the process since they will pay the majority of the cost by the county allocation but it is interesting to look at that Farmington voters would spend $600,000 on a new dispatch building but not give $500 to the Chamber of Commerce for encouraging tourism and economic development to the region. Again just an observation not a judgment.
Here are the percentages:
Avon: 50.8-49.2 (Margin-1.6%)
Carthage 53.65-46.65 ( Margin-10%)
Chesterville 52.3-47.8 (Margin-4.5%)
Coplin Plt 29.6-70.4 (Margin -40.8%)
Dallas Plt 42.9-57.1 (Margin-14.2%)
Eustis 52.3-47.9 (Margin-15.4%)
Farmington 57.1-42.0 (Margin-14.2%)
Industry 48.7-51.3 (Margin- 2.6%)
Madrid 33.3-66.7 (Margin- 33.4%)
New Vineyard 54.5-45.5 (Margin-9%)
Phillips 41.5-58.5 (Margin-17%)
Sandy River 33.3-66.7 (Margin-33.4%)
Strong 49.5-50.5 (Margin-1%)
Temple 52.1-47.9 (Margin-4.1%)
Weld 50.7-49.3 (Margin-1.4%)
Wilton 53.2-46.8 (Margin-6.4%)
Thank you to the voters who understand the vital importance of passing the bond for Dispatch. Contracting this service out will yield the same detriment and financial fiasco that was predicted before turning the jail into a 72 hour holding facility. We can bring our local dispatch up to code or pay out forever for this service. Quick response is vital to saving lives and responding to emergency situations. I wonder how comforting it will be for residents to have their emergency calls routed to Augusta when in crisis. Either way we will pay for this service. Do we want to pay to own…or lease for a lifetime……to pay a middleman to re-route calls back to Franklin.
to Chris Farmer….
Jay (which believe it or not is in Franklin County) and uses the dispatchers pays the largest majority of the county’s tax allocation. It is not Farmington. Farmington is however, a very close second.
Must be that those who voted NO will continue to hope that the “moccasin telegraph” system will enable them to receive emergency assistance when necessary. Good notification systems are the first line of help when it is needed. For most of you who voted NO, when was the last time you visited the Dispatch facility to see what really happens and how one’s phone message is handled. Voting your pocketbook (mine is feeling the pinch too) is only one consideration when a life could be on the line.
Thanks to all who voted in favor of this much needed facility.
Thanks Jay, I didn’t realize Jay paid the most.
To Nancy Porter…..surely you know that the Republican candidates were voted on by their party only, and last I knew, one can offer congratulations across party lines.
