JAY – Police arrested a local man and charged him with allowing two juveniles to drink in his apartment Friday.

Jay Police Department Sgt. Troy Young arrested Donald Morine, 36, and charged him with furnishing minors a place to consume alcohol, a Class D offense. According to Police Chief Larry White, Sr., the department received a report of loud noise coming from Morine’s apartment.

“We had a loud noise complaint,” White said, “and officers responded.”

Upon arriving at the scene, at 38 Main Street, the officers were told by a witness that some of the people in the apartment were underage. After a brief investigation, police say that they found two juveniles consuming alcohol. Young then arrested Morine.

White says that his department has not seen many cases like these recently, describing it as an isolated incident. Morine had apparently recently moved to Jay from Monmouth.

Morine was released on an unsecured $3,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 20.
