The First Congregational Church of Wilton, as part of its mission outreach program, has donated $10,000 to the museum. This gift will provide the church with naming rights to the Quiet Room. This room is a private area for feeding infants, and will also be used by families with children who may need a quiet place to collect themselves. The museum is very grateful to the First Congregational Church of Wilton for its commitment to western Maine families.

In addition, Otis Federal Credit Union has donated $5,000 to the museum. The museum welcomes their support as well.

With these recent donations, the museum now has raised over $215,000, closing the gap for them to receive the funding from the Sandy River Foundation grant, which will enable them to begin reconstruction of the building, with plans of opening next year.

The Maurais Company of Livermore Falls will begin work this summer on the heating and cooling systems in the building with funding secured through a $50,000 grant from the Davis Family foundation. Many of the museum rooms have been reserved, although there are a few remaining. For more information about other rooms which are still available, consult the museum website here.

There are a number of exciting events coming up this summer at the museum. The movie “The Princess Bride” will be shown at the museum on Friday, July 10, at 8:30 p.m. (rain date Saturday July 11). This is the second movie in the museum’s summer outdoor movie series.

The first film, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” was enormously enjoyed by the many families who attended on June 13. As with the first movie, refreshments, glow-in-the-dark jewelry, and bathroom facilities will be available. Tickets may be purchased at the museum before the show, at $4 per single person, or $10 per family. Families are advised to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating for watching the movie, and jammies are certainly allowed! Please note that this is a family event – children must be accompanied by an adult.

The WMPM is located at 561 Main Street in Wilton, next to the Franklin Savings Bank and across from the Methodist Church.

Other movies scheduled for the summer: Friday, Aug. 7 (rain date Sunday Aug. 9) – The Lego Movie, 8:00 pm and Friday, Sept. 4 (rain date Sept. 5) – Finding Nemo, 7:15 pm

During the Blueberry Festival, in addition to the Friday night movie, the museum will feature G Force Laser Tag, from Presque Isle, at the museum site throughout the day on Friday and Saturday. There will also be face painting and other festival activities suitable for younger children. This is the second movie in the museum’s summer outdoor movie series.
