FARMINGTON – East Wilton artist Colleen Park will be Farmington’s SugarWood Gallery Artist of the Month for August. An Open House Reception will be held Friday, July 31st from 4 to 7 PM and Saturday August 1st from 11 AM to 3 PM. The public is invited.
Colleen says her earliest memory of creating ‘a work of art’ was when she was four years old.
“It was a drawing of a boat, and my canvas was a new wall in a house that my father was building. Though those first efforts were not appreciated, little did I know that the day would come when people would commission me to paint room sized murals on their walls of everything from flowers to gardens to rainforests.”
Colleen calls herself a self-taught artist who did not start painting until she was almost 50 years old. “I enjoy painting landscapes and still life’s in oils, and painting flowers from my gardens in watercolor… I believe my ability to paint is a gift from God, and I consider it a privilege to be able to illustrate His amazing creations.”

SugarWood Gallery is located at 248 Broadway in Farmington. Hours are Monday thru Friday from 10 to 5:30; Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4.
