FARMINGTON – The Emery Community Arts Center, located on the University of Maine at Farmington campus, will present a series of student-centered exhibits from Nov. 22 through Dec. 11. These exhibits are free and are open to the public.

“Dinner Table Dialogues,” a live installation, will appear in the ECAC Flex-Space gallery from Nov. 22–Dec. 1, with a closing reception from 4-6 p.m., Dec. 1. Performed on a fluid schedule, this collaborative, “live-art” experience brings students together at a “dinner table” setting to investigate and discuss the live installation concept through notions of the historical, the personal, the cultural and the political.

“Saw Horse,” a sculpture exhibit by UMF students will appear in the ECAC Flex-Space gallery from Dec. 4-10, with a reception from 5-7 p.m., on Dec. 8. This show will feature works by UMF students: Marie Bradford, James Allen Camp Jr, Samantha Funk, Edward Hamaty, Ben Radville, F. Dillon Robinson, Katherine Steward and Kelson M. Williams.

In addition, the month of November is also an “open laboratory” term for UMF Students to install works throughout the ECAC building. Once there, the works will be installed and critiqued by classes then rotated out for the next artist’s opportunity. These works will include wall pieces, sculpture, robotics, sound and interactive installations and more. The ECAC rotating installations will change frequently through Dec. 11, and community members are invited to visit often.

These student-centered exhibits are sponsored by the UMF Department of Sound, Performance and Visual Inquiry. The ECAC Flex Space Gallery is open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Mon-Fri and 12-6 p.m., Sat & Sun.
