PHILLIPS – The newly-formed Riverside Players will present an evening of vaudeville-type performances in Phillips on Saturday evening, October 15.

Featuring a collection of comic sets and variety acts, the show will bring to the Phillips Area Community Center stage such stellar notables as Winona Davenport, Chris Hardy, Paula Kane, Corey Ellis, and a cast of supporting actors that includes cameo appearances by Russell Black and Tom Saviello.

The Phillips Follies is the inaugural event of the Riverside Players, a community theatre group that plans to present offerings throughout the year. The group is an offshoot of the same people who brought The Ghost at the Inn, a murder mystery, to the Phillips Community Center (the Old Gym) in April. “This evening will be full of fun and surprises,” said Dick Matthews, the show’s director. “What we’ve put together is an entertaining night out for the entire family.”

Several of the cast members have performed in theatrical events in the Center in the past. “People here in town used to do plays, talent shows, and variety-type shows here in the Old Gym all the time,” said Paula Kane. “It’s good to be a part of bringing these back again.”

Doors open at 6 p.m. with a “curtain time” of 6:30. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children and refreshments will be for sale before the performance and during intermission. Proceeds will be applied to equipping the Community Center with a stage curtain and theater lighting.
