WILTON – The second season of monthly storytelling dinners at Calzolaio Pasta Company in Wilton will begin on Friday, Oct. 21.

Local storyteller, Phyllis Blackstone, teamed up with the owners of the Calzolaio Pasta Co. last year for the first season of storytelling dinners. Each dinner features a storyteller from the state or New England region and stories are woven among the dinner courses during the evening. Local musician, Jacki Ranco, plays a variety of music on her keyboard which adds a relaxing, festive touch to the evening.

This season will include six dinners from October-April (excluding December) and will feature storytellers Judy Loeven of Farmington, Lynne Cullen of Portland, Pat Gardiner of Lewiston, Mike Harris of Portland, Uncle George Radcliffe of Webster, NH and Debb Freedman of Portland. Phyllis Blackstone hosts the event and includes stories from her own repertoire.

The first dinner of this season will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at 6:30 at the Calzolaio Pasta Co. on Main St. in Wilton. Judy Loeven, a resident of Farmington, will be the featured storyteller. Loeven began telling humorous wolf and coyote stories when she worked for a wolf sanctuary in the state of Washington. Now her repertoire has expanded to more folktales of animals—and people. She is a member of the Western Maine Storytelling Guild and was featured at the Storytelling Showcase at the Western Maine Storytelling Festival in Farmington in August. Folks who missed her telling of the “True Story of the Three Little Pigs” at the festival will want to hear the reprisal at the storytelling dinner.

All dinners cost $19.95 per person (excludes alcoholic beverages and dessert) and begin at 6:30 p.m. For reservations, call (207) 645-9500.
