Steve Rothert’s Work at Heirlooms of Tomorrow in March

2 mins read

SugarWood Gallery welcomes Steve Rothert as “Artist of the Month for March” at their Broadway Gallery in Farmington.

Steve is a Maine artist and traveler. Most of his paintings are of places he has been to or events he has experienced. He says that he realized early on that a photograph, while good at captivating the moment, does little to reveal the emotion, spirit, and energy that can be brushed in by an artist. He cultivated his artistic abilities as a student of several Maine artists, including Farmington’s Stan Keirstead, but developed his own unique style drawing inspiration from the great Maine outdoors. An avid hiker, he gathers the many moods, seasons, and people of Maine to record in vibrant watercolors. From the incomparable beauty of Acadia National Park, vistas of Mount Blue State Park, to the many enchanting bays and ports, Steve captures the essence of Maine.

Since retiring from the U.S. Navy, he has sought to record some of the experiences, places, and especially, the people of the U.S. Armed Forces as a tribute to their true faith and allegiance, and devotion to duty.

An Open House to introduce Steve’s work will be held Friday, March 6 from 4 PM to 7 PM and Saturday March 7 from 11 AM to 3 PM.
