WILTON – If you enjoy traditional Irish songs and music from the British Isles, you will want to attend a concert performed by TALISKER at the Wilton First Congregational Church at 386 Main Street in Wilton on Sunday, February 21st at 2 p.m.

TALISKER’S music is varied including lively instrumental jigs, solos, ensemble singing and some sing-alongs. They encourage the audience to become involved; feet stomping, clapping, and imprompto dancing is often part of the excitement.

One of their most popular requests is “Stolen Child” that is based on the Irish mythology that Faeries steal children in the night. Their version is one with William Butler Yeats poetry weaving in and out of the song. “Are Ye Right There, Michael” is an old favorite, a Percy French tune about the perils of rail travel in Ireland. In “Mari’s Wedding,” the whistle part for this traditional Irish melody is based on South African township jive.

Some of the instruments in their music include the Krummhorn, viol de gamba, various tin whistles, guitar, accordian, tambourine, bodhran (Irish drum), recorders and sundry percussion.

TALISKER includes Donna Campion, Peter Campion, Elaine Eadler, Dan (Tree) Robbins, Kathryn Systma and John Systma, all of whom are accomplished musicians and performers.

Price for admission is $l0. adults, $5. seniors and children. Proceeds will contribute to the church warming center. For an afternoon delight, mark this on your calendar.
