KINGFIELD – David Herring, executive director for Maine Huts & Trails has announced that Conrad Klefos has been hired as the director of Marketing and Communications for Maine Huts & Trails.

“Conrad emerged from a very talented field of candidates as the right person with the right mix of skills and experience for the job and I’m confident that he will be a key player in MH&T achieving our long term goals,” Herring said at a recent announcement to the MHT staff.

Klefos brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and contacts to his new role at MH&T.  He spent 20 years at Jay Peak in VT, culminating in the role of vice president of marketing. During his tenure at Jay, annual skier visits increased from 67,000 to 215,000.  Most recently, he served as the director of marketing and sales for Saddleback Resort in Rangeley, where he helped increase skier visits by 17 percent and annual revenue by 37 percent in a one-year period.

Klefos and his wife Lisa live in Rangeley, where he is also on the Board of Directors of the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce and is the chair of their Marketing Committee.

He will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications plan that will result in significant increases in revenue across all categories for Maine Huts & Trails.

“I am very excited to be involved with Maine Huts & Trails” Klefos said. “We are in our infancy as an organization and are building nationally significant attraction of 180 miles of trails and up to 12 huts along the trail network. Timing could not be better to be on the ground floor of this great project.”

Maine Huts and Trails are in the process of building the third hut located near Grand Falls on the Dead River. Completion of the hut and new trail network is scheduled for this fall with the hut opening expected in mid October.
