JAY – Western Maine Transportation Services recently held its annual volunteer recognition breakfast at LaFleur’

s Restaurant. Attending were volunteer drivers and their families, along with five WMTS Board members, their guests and seven members of the WMTS staff.

Addressing the attendees, WMTS General Manager Pat Christian (pictured above, at right) thanked and praised the volunteer drivers for their commitment, even in the face of historically high fuel prices during part of the past year.

Christian also introduced and recognized the members of the Western Maine Transportation Services Board of Directors with certificates for their service and direction to the organization. Drivers were also awarded certificates and were presented with sweatshirts by Customer Service Supervisor, Barb Gaudin and Customer Service team members Debbi Conrad, Felicia Saucier and Janis Terrison. In presenting the certificates, Gaudin echoed Christian’

s praise of the drivers for their commitment.

Year-round, WMTS enlists the services of over 80 reimbursed volunteer drivers to transport riders to MaineCare or other MaineDHHS-covered appointments and are part of the MaineDHHS reimbursed Volunteer Driver program administered by WMTS. Western Maine Transportation Services is the full-service Public Transportation Corporation of record for Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford Counties, established by statute in 1976.
