FARMINGTON – People concerned with violence in the community made the annual march from Meetinghouse Park to the First Congregational Church Wednesday, in an event organized by Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services. A flash mob-style dance took place immediately prior to the event.

“We’re hoping to engage the community to create a violence free environment,” SAVES Executive Director Marty McIntyre said. “SAVES felt it was important to keep it going. To give the community an opportunity to come together.”

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the associated color is teal. Sexual assault is something that people might not want to admit existing in their community. “I think sexual violence for many people is unseen,” McIntyre said.
