Cold cuts

1 min read

Levi Powers, a Forestry and Wood Harvesting student at Foster Regional Applied Technology Center at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington, uses his skill with a chainsaw to create a Timberjack skidder snow sculpture. The forestry students are busy this week creating sculptures that are related to their class as part of the annual Winter Carnival activities at Foster Tech and Mt. Blue High School. Instructor Jill Orcutt said the work will be judged Friday morning and noted “there is fun in education.”  The sculptors have plenty of snow to work with this year and are allowed to use tools they’d use in the woods, such as chainsaws and handsaws, to create the forms.  Students at both schools are participating in a number of activities throughout the week and go on February break vacation next week.
