Community rallies to support Nate Childs

1 min read

TEMPLE – In less than two hours, 210 ham dinners, complete with mashed potatoes, biscuits and butter, were served at the Temple Town Hall and $3,365 was raised for 21-year-old Nate Childs of Temple, who lost his leg in an accident this summer.

Childs, a steel worker for Accidentally Anomalies in Turner, has made considerable progress since the accident and was able to attend the dinner. While he knew about the dinner, he was very surprised at the crowd that came out to support him.

“If we had had more food, we could have kept on serving and would have raised even more money for Nate on Saturday night,”

said Lou Brackett, speaking on behalf of the Temple Trail Riders, the local ATV Club here that organized the fund raising dinner.

The Trail Riders, who are known for their growing community services were joined in organizing the dinner by a number of local stores and the staff at Cascade Brook School where Nathan’s mother Kathy Childs works. Local chef, Matt Irish of the Dugout, prepared the meals.
