Maine’s first baby of 2010 arrives at Farmington hospital

Alysha Webb of Wilton and her new daughter Sonya who arrived four minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. 

FARMINGTON – Maine’s first baby of 2010 was born just four minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Tara Aumand of Franklin Health Women’s Care attended the birth of Sonya, a 9-pound, 6-ounce baby girl who was born at 12:04 a.m. on a stormy Jan. 1. Sonya’s mom is Alysha Webb of Wilton; Sonya is her second child – joining sister Selena, age 3.

“This is my first New Year’s at Franklin Memorial Hospital and it’s exciting news that our hospital was blessed with the state’s first baby,” said Rebecca Ryder, FMH president/CEO. “Mom and baby are reportedly doing well.” 

As Franklin Memorial Hospital’s first baby of 2010, Sonya was presented with gifts donated by area merchants including: Calico Patch, organic cotton outfit and T-shirt; Franklin Savings Bank, $100 savings bond; Mr. Paperback, Peter Rabbit Snuggle Book; Devaney, Doak & Garrett Booksellers, book “My Animals;” Mary O’Donal, handmade afghan; Franklin Memorial Hospital, red wagon and teddy bear; Narrow Guage Cinemas, pair of movie passes; Trask Jewelers, baby spoon; Village Scrappers, handmade baby quilt & bag; and Wal-Mart $10 gift card.
