Grand jury indicts 21 people on 83 charges

FARMINGTON – A Franklin County grand jury indicted 21 people on 83 charges during a session held on Monday.

Included on the list are an Avon man indicted on six counts of drug trafficking and related charges in a case that investigators said was one of the largest drug busts in the county and a couple charged with heroin possession after they were found unresponsive when a child returned home from school.

Also indicted is a high school student charged with burglary and theft after a family reported $50,000 in jewelry and cash were found missing from their home when they returned from a vacation.

Daryl “Poochie” Searles, 56, of Avon, was indicted on two Class A charges of aggravated trafficking of Schedule drugs, one Class B aggravated trafficking of Schedule drugs, a Class C possession of firearms by a prohibited person, two criminal forfeitures.

In April, The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, working with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the State Police executed a search warrant at a home at 148 Avon Valley Road. Confiscated at the home where Searles resided included a total of $144,008 in cash, 442 oxycodone and hydrocodone pills together equaling 9,252 milligrams. Also seized by law enforcement were 2.1 pounds of harvested marijuana, seven guns and a box of ammunition.

In June, Searles posted the $2,000 cash bail and was released from jail.

On April 8, family members called 911 to report two unresponsive adults were found after a child returned home from school. Emergency personnel responded to the residence and the investigation into an alleged overdose began.

Four days later,  State Police Trooper Keith Barton, charged Daniel Villacci, 28, of New Sharon, with furnishing schedule drugs, namely heroin, a Class C crime and possession of heroin, also a Class C crime.

On April 14, Barton charged Tabatha Schoubroek, 29, of New Sharon, with Class C possession of heroin. Investigators said at the time of the arrests that they believe Villacci furnished heroin to Schoubroek on April 8.

On Monday, a grand jury indicted Villacci on a Class C possession of heroin charge, a Class C furnishing Schedule W drug and a Class E violating conditions of release charge. Also indicted was Schoubroek, 39, of New Sharon, on a Class C possession of heroin charge.

Brian Durrell, 18, of New Sharon, was indicted on a Class B charge of burglary and a Class B theft charge.  A Wilton family reported to police on April 30 that several pieces of jewelry and $700 in cash were missing from their home when they returned from a vacation. Following an investigation by the Wilton Police Department, Durrell was arrested on May 7 on charges of felony burglary and theft.

Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said at the time some of the jewelry had been recovered after it was reportedly identified as having been sold to a local jewelry store and allegedly found at a pawn shop in Bangor.

According to court documents, the indictment list also includes:

Roger Bailey, 51, of Temple, was indicted on two Class C charges of Hydrocodone and Oxycodone possession.

Ryan Brann, 36, of Wilton, was indicted on a charge of Class C operating after license revocation, a Class D charge of operating under the influence, a Class D charge of endangering the welfare of a child, a Class E charge of driving to endanger and a Class E ccharge of leaving the scene of an accident.

Dannette Burk, 28, of Livermore Falls, was indicted on a Class C charge of stealing drugs.

Florence Corbett, 49, of North Jay, was indicted on two Class C charges of illegal possession of Hydrocodone and Oxycodone.

Rhonda Drake, 43, of Farmington, was indicted on Class A charge of aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drug, Class C charge of acquiring drugs by deception and a Class C charge of forgery.

Amy Goldberg, 26, of Farmington, was indicted on a Class C charge of possession of Schedule drugs.

Lance Huff, 38, of New Sharon, was indicted on Class C charges of domestic violence assault and assault, and a Class E violating conditions of release charge.

Benjamin Jacques, 41, of Phillips, was indicted on a Class B aggravated domestic violence assault charge and Class E violating conditions of release charge.

Sylvain Launiere, 54, of Rome, was indicted on a Class C charge of operating after driver’s license revocation.

Aaron Nasiatka, 29, of Farmington, was indicted on a Class C charge of domestic violence assault.

Tracy Robbins, 39, of Rumford,was indicted on a Class B trafficking Schedule W drug.

Rebecca Sawyer, 44, of Jay, was indicted on a Class C charge of theft.

Anthony Smith, 29, of Carthage, was indicted on a Class C theft charge.

Jonathan Smith, 26, of Carthage, was indicted on a Class C theft by deception charge.

Brandon Soper, 31, of Livermore, was indicted on a Class B trafficking Schedule W drug, a Class D possession of Schedule W drug, Class E violating conditions of release charge, a Class E operating after license suspension charge, criminal forfeiture.

John Wiese, 22, of Jay, was indicted on two Class C burglary charges and a Class C and Class E theft charges and a Class D criminal mischief charge.
